Our 4-Step Biohazard Disposal Process
Step 1
Placement & Labeling
Begin by placing your primary biohazard waste container in the immediate area where it will be used. Prior to use, line the container with an approved biohazard bag. Ensure the bag is clearly labeled with your facility’s name, address, and contact information to maintain a proper audit trail.
Step 2
Interim Storage & Handling
As waste is generated, immediately place it into the lined biohazard container. Once the liner is full, tie it securely using an approved knot (such as a gooseneck knot). Remove the tied liner and place it into your larger Regulated Medical Waste (RMW) transport container. Replace the liner immediately so your team can continue working safely.
Step 3
Accumulation & Sharps Integration
On or before your scheduled service day, move all tied biohazard liners from interim storage areas to your designated accumulation area. At this stage, ensure all full sharps containers are closed and locked.
Step 4
Scheduled Service & Exchange
On your scheduled service day, an HMWS professional will perform a "one-for-one" exchange, taking your full RMW containers and replacing them with clean, sanitized ones. We will also deliver any pre-ordered supplies, such as bags or sharps containers, to ensure you are never caught without the tools you need.
